2022 Alaska Indigenous Research Program

This in-person research program is free and open to the public! Please note there is a possibility for the event to move to a completely virtual platform as a safety precaution.

The Alaska Indigenous Research Program is three weeks in length and designed for cohorts of 40 participants within each week.

  • Week 1 | Advanced Research (May 2-6)
  • Week 2 | Health Ethics (May 9-13)
  • Week 3 | Introductory Research (May 16-20)

The goal of this research program is to increase the health research capacity of Alaska Native and American Indian people, communities, and the professionals who serve them by providing Indigenous-centered, cross-cultural research education.

The learning objectives of this research program are to:

  • Understand Indigenous worldviews and how to apply the Two-Eyed Seeing framework
  • Conduct equitable and ethical health research with Alaska Native/American Indian communities and people
  • Apply appropriate and respectful research methods (Indigenous and Western) to co-produce knowledge
  • Understand the historical and cultural context in which health research is being conducted
