Alaska Native Cultures Overview

Join Training and Development in Zoom (https://anthc.zoom.us/j/97613328510) and In Person (EDC Conference Room# 3) for Alaska Native Cultures Overview from 9 a.m.– 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

This course enhances cross-cultural perspectives and understanding by introducing an overview of the diverse Alaska Native cultures, including: geography, flora and fauna, traditional clothing and regalia, and social organization

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the diversity of Alaska Native cultures
  • Name the 5 major Alaska Native cultural groups
  • Identify differences between cultural groups
  • Identify similarities between cultural groups

  2. Global Perspective of Indigenous Peoples
  3. Introduction to Alaska Native Peoples
  4. Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian & Eyak Overview
  5. Athabascan Overview
  6. Unangax & Sugpiaq Overview
  7. Yup’ik & Cup’ik Overview
  8. Inupiat Overview
