ESCALATE HIV Stigma Training In-Person

May 5, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium is partnering with NMAC to host the first American Indian and Alaska Native ESCALATE Training. NMAC developed ESCALATE to train persons with HIV, Ryan White HIV/AIDS Providers, and community members to reduce HIV stigma within their communities and support the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. ESCALATE provides participants with anti-stigma strategies, communication, and leadership skills to address HIV-related stigma across multiple levels of systems.

Training dates: May 2-6

Location: TBD Anchorage, AK

Cost: Free to attend

ESCALATE provides Ryan White HIV/AIDS program organizations such as clinics, community health centers, and health department with the tools to reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination through (1) measurement, (2) evidence-based strategies, and (3) tailored interventions. ESCALATE offers trainings, Technical Assistance, and Learning Collaboratives. Technical Assistance (TA) is another option in which, organizations will be appointed a TA coach who will deliver and help implement a tailored ESCALATE plan for each organization. TA coaches will review the organization and develop a preliminary work plan for each organization, outlining goals and potential TA activities. A Learning Collaborative is an initiative in which organizations come together to study and apply quality improvement methods to a focused topic area.

Travel scholarships for rural participants are available to attend in person. Travel will include flights, hotel, and cost of food.
