ANTHC Paid COVID-19 Sick Time and Employee Health procedures updated

January 12th, 2022 by Fiona Brosnan

The ANTHC’s Paid COVID-19 Sick Time Procedure, HR602-01 (January 11, 2022), has been updated.

The CDC recently updated its guidance on when employees may return to work after a COVID-19 infection after a reduced isolation period length of 5-7 days from symptom onset or positive test. The ANTHC COVID-19 sick time procedure has been updated accordingly. Please note, if ANMC, under Incident Command, internally activates Crisis Standards of Care, this timeline may be shortened following CDC guidance to meet operational needs.

The key change is that employees who test positive for COVID-19 will receive one (1) standard work week, up to 40 hours, of paid administrative leave (ADMIN LEAVE). Employees may be granted additional paid administrative leave beyond 40 hours with documentation from their provider or Employee Health that they are not yet cleared to return to work. This benefit is available for each COVID-19 illness event.

Additionally, the ANTHC Employee Health COVID-19 Procedure (January 10, 2022) has been updated to reflect this new CDC guidance. The main updates are that health care workers (staff who provide direct patient care, have close contact with patients, or considered critically essential for the daily operational support) can routinely return to work after 7 days when feeling better and have no fever, without a negative retest.

All staff are expected to avoid the workplace when sick. All ANTHC staff and members of their household have access to COVID-19 testing at our drive thru and walk up testing sites. Employee Health also offers booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine every Thursday and Friday for employees.

Below are highlights of the recent changes. Please refer to the full procedure or contact Employee Health if you are unsure or have questions: (907) 729-2900/4571, employeehealth@anthc.org or Tiger Text the “Infection Prevention” or “ANMC Employee Health Nurse” role.
