Training Opportunity: Demography 101

This training provides a foundational overview of the study of populations – demography. We define demography, introduce its three primary components (births, deaths, and migration), and outline how demography is used in research and policy.

Training Facilitators

Julie Morris, PhD, MA | Senior Biostatistician
Dr. Morris is a Senior Biostatistician at the Alaska Native Epidemiology Center. She holds a PhD and MA from the University of Washington and specializes in statistics, demography, and social determinants of health research.
She provides expertise on managing, analyzing, and interpreting data to understand the health of communities.

Megan Ackerman, MS | Biostatistician
Ms. Ackerman is an Biostatistician at the Alaska Native Epidemiology Center. Megan holds a BS in Mathematics
and an MS in Demography, and she provides data analysis, data dissemination, and technical assistance.
