Dr. Jill Duke, PH.D. Dr. Renee Robinson PharmD, MPH Bethany Berry, CNM, MSN & Cristy Murray, ANPDr.
Jill Duke, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist with the Alaska VA Healthcare System, is a leading expert in behavioral medicine. Her extensive experience includes providing Veterans with treatment for tobacco cessation, weight management, diabetes management, pain management, and treatment of insomnia. Dr. Duke’s unique expertise also extends to educating staff on utilizing motivational interviewing for health promotion and disease prevention.
Renee Robinson, PharmD, MPH, a seasoned professional with over ten years of experience in Alaska, has made significant contributions to Alaskan communities and the pharmacy profession. Her journey includes a residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and two postdoctoral fellowships: a Pediatric Pharmacotherapy fellowship at the Ohio State University and a Clinical Research Fellowship (K-30) through the NIH. With over 20 years of experience as a clinical pharmacist, she has conducted community-based participatory research with pediatric and tribal communities, demonstrating her comprehensive understanding of patient engagement.
Bethany Berry, CNM, MSN, a senior nurse midwife at Southcentral Foundation, brings a personal touch to her work. Having resided in North Carolina and Connecticut and lived in Alaska for more than ten years, she has a deep understanding of diverse communities. A midwife since 1996, she received her nursing and midwifery training at Johns Hopkins University and Yale University. Bethany’s passion for working with Indigenous women and families of all ages in Alaska and the Navajo and Lakota Nations is evident in her commitment to supporting their reproductive health journeys and choices. Her love for sharing stories and outdoor activities further reflects her personal approach to her work.
Some of the areas covered during the presentation include evidence-based treatments for tobacco use. Dr. Duke and her colleague Dr. Renee Robinson will provide information on the epidemiology and burden of tobacco use as well as evidence-based treatment, specifically behavioral interventions, and pharmacotherapy. Bethany Berry will be giving information on HPV screening, with the goal of being one step closer to cervical cancer elimination. 6.50 contact hours of accredited education credit availableF
