ASIST Workshop Dec. 11-12

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) Injury Prevention Program in partnership with the Alaska Training Cooperative, University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Center for Human Development (CHD), and Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority will be holding an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop Dec. 11 & 12.

ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop. ASIST can be learned and used by anyone. ASIST includes informative lectures, discussions, and hands-on skills practice in front of small groups. For more information about ASIST please view this info sheet.

Cost: No Charge, costs for attendance are covered by a grant and valued at $45.00 per person

In support of improving patient care, Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. CPE Credit will be posted to the online CPE Monitor system within 60 days following completion of each activity when applicable. The ANMC Joint Accreditation CE Program Portfolio additionally supports Behavioral Health (APA), Social Work (ASWB-ACE), and Dietitians (CPEU). Continuing Education Credits: this activity has been designated by ANMC for a maximum of 12.5 contact hours.

This training offers 14 Continuing Education (CE) hours from the Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC) and 14 Continuing Medical Education (CME) for Fire and EMS personnel.
