Saturday, Sept. 16 from noon-3 p.m., ANTHC Substance Misuse Prevention is hosting a naloxone drive-thru training and distribution event at the parking lot next to the pond, southwest of the ANMC hospital. All staff and community members are welcome to participate. Please plan ahead for limited parking on Sept. 16.
Participants will learn how to recognize signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer naloxone, a life-saving medication. A brief, 5-minute training is required to receive a free Opioid Overdose Response Kit and other harm-reduction supplies.
The event will provide quick, convenient access to resources and aims to increase the number of people in the Anchorage-area who are trained to respond to a suspected opioid overdose. In addition to receiving training and naloxone, participants can connect with community-support organizations, such as Southcentral Foundation, Anchorage Health Department, Project Hope and Alaska Office of Substance Misuse and Addiction Prevention.
This event is made possible by SAMHSA First Responders and Comprehensive Addiction and Response Act grant funds awarded to the ANTHC Substance Misuse Prevention Program.
