Workshop: Applied Demography

April 2 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This 2-hour workshop provides participants a hands-on learning experience with basic measures and tools used in demography.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Calculate age-adjusted mortality rates
  2. Calculate life expectancy measures
  3. Interpret population pyramids

Training Facilitators

Julie Morris, PhD, MA | Senior Biostatistician
Dr. Morris is a Senior Biostatistician at the Alaska Native EpiCenter. Julie holds an MA and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Washington. She specializes in statistics, demography, and social determinants of health research.

Megan Ackerman, MS | Biostatistician
Ms. Ackerman is a Biostatistician at the Alaska Native EpiCenter. Megan holds a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Demography, and she provides data analysis, data
dissemination, and technical assistance.
