ENT was called out for having a good process to identify guardianship for consents prior to pediatric procedures. Anthony does an excellent job identifying whether our minor patients are under OCS care and as needed speaking with the foster parent/adoptive parent and contacting OCS to determine who can consent for surgery. When parental rights are terminated, OCS is contacted to consent for surgery and if parental rights are intact, he asks the bio-parents name(s) and phone #s for the provider to call the day of the preop exam.
