You protected my Patient information and Privacy. We all know the importance of HIPAA but also have to provide the best care for our patients and their families. Doing the right thing is hard because families want information but without permission that information can’t be given. An individual approached you at your desk and asked for information on a patient. You let them know you couldn’t release information at this time because you were not able to see if they were listed as an escort / family member. Thank you for your professionalism and open communication.
