As of April 1, 2024, Release of Information (ROI), an area of Health Information Management (HIM), began offering additional coverage for emergent medical record requests outside of normal HIM business hours. For emergent release of information requests outside HIM business hours, please call the HIM main number at 907-729-3019 or extension 53019.
An ROI staff member is now on call for emergent requests – such as requests for information where the patient is admitted or seen in another ED, pregnancy and/or delivery, etc. Other requests for information will continue to be managed during normal HIM business hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
The expanded hours will assist the Emergency Department (ED) and Labor and Delivery staff from the responsibility of releasing records. This new process does not include releasing records involving the transfer of patients from the Alaska Native Medical Center to other hospitals and medical facilities. This does not impact the current transfer process.
